Remixing the Classics

Inspiration for me comes from across the spectrum of media. Music, food, anime, movies, podcasts, and ample other modes found in the smallest aspects of life.

Naturally, the largest comes from other artists. This page is dedicated to parodies, refurbishments, and other takes I create in response to artists of old.

Liberty Leading the People

colored pencil, 9x12 inches

Eugene Delacroix’s work is a favorite of mine. When given the task of replicating Liberty Leading the People, itfelt too perfect of an opportunity. Thankfully, a finished product was not the goal of the project. Rather, its implementation was for the students to stretch their skill while understanding art history.

Regardless, I was hard on myself when this piece didn’t turn out the way I hoped. Yet that was the point. Liberty didn’t lead France in a day. It took years of conceptualization, time management, and dedication. So after much thought, I came back with a revised, mixed media, piece.
